We do not service Toronto, Barrie, Ottawa, or further south of Oakville. For sites outside these boundaries, refer the inquiry elsewhere - we will not travel for it. ## Common questions ### What areas do you serve? Headquartered in Huntsville, ON - serving all of Muskoka (Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Port Carling, Baysville) plus active commercial and residential work across Hamilton, Burlington, Waterdown, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Oakville. ### Are you ESA licensed? Yes - we are an Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) Licensed Electrical Contractor (ESA/ECRA-7017877). Our electricians are 309A Master Electricians. Every job that requires a permit gets one in our name, and the ESA Certificate of Inspection goes to you at the end. ### How fast do you respond? Same- or next-business-day on most residential calls in Huntsville, Hamilton, Burlington, and Waterdown. Call (705) 242-9090 during business hours and a real person answers. ### How do I know if I need a panel upgrade? Common signs: a 60A or 100A panel feeding a modern home with an EV charger or heat pump on the way; breakers tripping under normal load; an FPE Stab-Lok or Federal Pioneer panel (insurance flag); rust on the meter base; or aluminum branch wiring. If your insurer asked for an electrical inspection, that is also usually a panel-or-service conversation. ### Can you replace a Federal Pioneer / FPE Stab-Lok panel? Yes - and we recommend it. FPE Stab-Lok panels are a documented fire-and-failure-to-trip risk and most home insurers in Ontario now require replacement. We swap the panel, re-terminate every branch circuit, label everything, and get the ESA inspection done. ### Which EV chargers do you install? All major brands - Tesla Wall Connector and Universal Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, FLO Home X5, Enphase IQ EV Charger 2, Wallbox Pulsar Plus, Grizzl-E, and JuiceBox. If you already bought a unit we install it; if not, we will tell you which one actually fits your panel and use case. ### What does a Level 2 EV charger install typically cost? It depends on three things: whether your panel has spare capacity for a 32-48A continuous load, how far the run is from the panel to where the car parks, and whether a service upgrade is needed first. Cottage long-runs and outdoor installs are a different scope from a panel-adjacent garage install. Send us a panel photo and where the car parks and we will quote in writing before any work. ### Do I need a 200A service for an EV charger? Sometimes - it depends on your existing load. A Level 2 EV charger draws 32-48A continuous; if your house is on a 100A service with electric range, A/C, and electric dryer already drawing, a load calculation often shows the 100A service is at limit. We do a proper load calc before recommending the upgrade so you do not pay for capacity you do not need. ### Do I need a whole-home generator? Up in Muskoka the short answer is usually yes if you have a well pump, septic pump, or a freezer full of food and the line goes down for two to five days every winter. In Hamilton and Burlington the case is weaker but still real - ice storms, summer thunderstorms, and aging grid infrastructure mean four-to-eight-hour outages a few times a year. We size to your actual load, not the maximum. ### Generac vs Kohler vs Cummins - which one? All three are good. Generac has the largest dealer network and the easiest parts story. Kohler runs quieter and has a slightly better cold-start record. Cummins is heavy-duty - what we put in for commercial sites. For most Ontario homes we install Generac Guardian (14kW-26kW) sized to the panel load. ## Pricing posture Skyline Electric does not publish per-job pricing. Every job is quoted in writing after a panel-photo review or a site walk - we run a real load calculation on every quote, not a rule of thumb. Most routine work (EV charger install, FPE panel swap, generator scope) can be quoted from a photo and a description; site walks are scheduled for service upgrades, long cottage runs, tenant fit-outs, and anything where existing conditions are the unknown. After-hours and weekend rates differ from business-hours rates; we tell you the call-out fee on the phone before we dispatch. Call (705) 242-9090 or use the contact form for a written quote. ## Optional - [About Skyline Electric](https://skylineelec.com/about) - [Contact](https://skylineelec.com/contact) - [Privacy Policy](https://skylineelec.com/privacy) - [Terms of Service](https://skylineelec.com/terms)
